Horrible, horrible movie with way over the top and overly exaggerated spraying blood effects and terrible actors. Not even the zombies could save this film. No one wants to see fast running zombies, even the mere idea of that is just stupid, especially in an 'of the dead' movie. And they make it even worse with running, quick thinking, stealth ninja zombies. George Romero is rolling in his grave right now, and I guarantee Tom Savini will have a good laugh at the god awful effects. If these companies are not going to do an original film justice, they need to stop remaking them.

I love zombie movies..aged 13 when Dawn Of The Dead came out it changed my life. I stopped counting how many times I watched the Romero classic after it reached 350..(I know that is hard to believe). When Day Of The Dead arrived I was old enough to see it in a cinema..and I loved it. WHY would anyone attempt a remake is beyond me..there was a crap attempt at a remake over ten years ago and now this. Another crap one. Due to The Walking Dead and the pure genius of Nicotero most zombie attempts these days seem insignificant and poor, Day Of The Dead Bloodline is one of these films where I question..what a waste of money, when finished being made did those involved feel proud of their garbage? This remake has much swiped from Romero's original..instead of Bub we have Max..a semi human zombie who seems to be a bit of a perverted stalker. Everyone..scientists, military and civilians are all in a bunker. I forced myself to complete the viewing. The 2 stars is for the make-up effects which are quite good..however on a final note I can't stand fast running zombies. It works in 28 Days Later because we are dealing with a virus rather than reanimated corpses. The only person I believe could remake Day Of The Dead and succeed would be Grieg Nicotero. The undead should have a green, rotting shambling look to them. Anyway watch Day Of The Dead Bloodline at your own peril. But I suggest you watch Romero's original AGAIN instead..it is a more valuable way to spend your time.

When another remake of Day of the Dead was announced, the horror community was already up in arms. And for good reason. The last two attempts at "reinventing" Romero's nihilistically grim third installment in his "Dead" series were total unmitigated disasters. And from the sounds of it, this one was going to be no different... Low and behold, the film is released to scathing reviews left and right. And I won't sit here and pretend I don't get it, because I do, but I will say this...for whatever the hell it's worth, I personally thought it was very fun. It's trashy, cartoonishly violent (literal EXPLOSIONS of blood whenever someone gets bitten) and just plain silly at times. But I think that's why it works. It reminded me a bit of the Italian zombie flicks that were made in the wake of Dawn of the Dead and it seemed more focused on being an entertaining movie than trying to top the original. The cast is generally pretty poor with Sophie Skelton making a bland protagonist (a sort of cross between Sarah and Dr. Logan from the original), Jeff Gum being an incredibly lame substitute for Joe Pilato's legendary Captain Rhodes and Marcus Vanco just being plain old boring. The big exception here would be the top-billed Johnathon Schaech as our main antagonist Max. Max is essentially meant to be this movie's version of Bub, but whereas Bub was a lovable and sympathetic character, Max is a flat-out despicable monster from the get go. He makes a solid villain and the scenes where it's just him interaction with Skelton are genuinely effective. The third act really picks up thanks to shifting its focus mainly onto him. So at the end of the day, it's not going to blow anyone's minds and if you walk into it wanting something on par with the original, then you're just asking to be disappointed. But if you're craving some old-fashioned splattery direct-to-video zombie action, you'll probably have a fun time with it.

This is one of those time when I wished I had listened to my gut feeling. It said avoid this trash but I was like how bad can it be? As bad as Day of the dead Contagion (a turkey which had nothing to do with the original movie)? As bad as the Steve Miner one? It is on a par with the Miner movie. It just feels like a generic zombie trash movie. Like zombies of mass destruction or zombie planet to name two from the cannon of so bad they are awful zombie movies. The movie itself is just generic zombie schlock. If they had called in zombies in Mexico then it just would have been a 2 out of ten trash movie. Saying it is based on the George Romero movie is an insult. Watch this at your own peril.

☑️Nov 22, 2022

There are some spoilers in here, but I try to keep the details somewhat non-specific. Everyone behaves as dumb and illogical as possible; one evening they decide on a raid "farther than designated range" -- the next day. Apparently "farther" means either 12 hours driving or they did start in the afternoon because soon as they have some motor trouble with one of their two Humvees, the sun sets. Still, after some scare, they get to the hospital, where they go spelunking into the hospital, at night. They find the antibiotics they're after, while moving out the heroine goes off on her own to her old lab to collect some photographs, gets a bit ambushed, shoots a bit so every other "rotter" now knows they're there, and of course they loose somebody. Also, they import the heroines old stalker (under a car, because they didn't check), which now stalks everyone in their previously safe bunker. If there's something suspicious going on, like noises in the aid ducts or blood dripping from somewhere, of course you're going to investigate it, alone, without anyone else even knowing where you are. After capturing the stalker, nobody is looking for several missing people the stalker already got before. Collecting other rotters for comparative samples is of course also something you do best at night. And then you realize that one person just is not heavy enough to hold a fence gate against 30 rotters... It's a massacre.

The movie started out so so. What totally made me think this is crap is when they all of a sudden made the zombies clever. The one zombie is now a stalker and only goes after the specific woman. Its like a serial killer/rapist stalker movie but using a zombie do it. They could not make up their minds if they wanted to make a zombie movie or serial killer thriller. Zombie carrying a grudge and angry after seeing the woman he is after kissing her boyfriend. I mean come on, really. Zombies is supposed to be brain dead and only want to eat the living, in older movies zombies were slow as well, now they break records running sprints here. But i can still live with that, just not the genius stalker serial killer zombie. The rest got spoiled by bad acting and sloppy camera work. Not a good movie at all. Do not waste your time.
