The match, which was carefully planned for months, is seen as revolutionary. The importance of Steamboat vs Savage simply can't be overlooked when studying the evolution of Professional Wrestling on a grand Scale. In the mid 80s in the WWF, it really was land of the giants. Huge wrestlers would be featured in main event spots as the business was seen as a big man sport. When Savage and Steamboat got together to have a match at WrestleMania 3, in front of the largest paying audience to a WWE show up until that point, they wanted to make a statement. Savage and Steam would go on to have an atheletic match, filled with storytelling and excitement, which had not been presented on WWF shows on this big scale. Not only did The Macho Man and The Dragon steal the show, they set an incredibly high bar for future generations to follow. The match inspired many future WWE superstars, and was seen as a turning point in the company which ushered in a new style of wrestling in the WWE. In this mini documentary from Wrestling Bios, we look at the Story of Macho Man Randy Savage vs Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat. Topics covered include: - Macho Man winning the Intercontinental Championship - Ricky Steamboat getting an oppurtunity against Savage before their WrestleMania match - The meticulous planning that went into Savage vs Steamboat - How the match played out at the Pontiac Silverdome at WrestleMania 3 - Ricky Steamboat dropping the title very shortly after the Randy Savage Match - Why Savage and Steamboat never had a rematch - Much More! #wrestling #wwe #documentary
