On June 27, 2009, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, USA, unbeaten American contender Victor Ortiz faced hard-hitting Argentine puncher Marcos Maidana for the vacant WBA Interim Light Welterweight Championship. The fight became an instant classic and one of the most thrilling bouts of the year. Coming into the fight, Ortiz was 24–1–1 (19 KOs), while Maidana held a record of 25–1 (24 KOs). The action exploded from the opening bell, with both fighters scoring knockdowns in the first round. In the second, Ortiz appeared to seize control by dropping Maidana twice, but the Argentine refused to back down and continued pressing forward. As the fight wore on, Maidana's relentless pressure and punching power began to turn the tide. In the sixth round, he floored Ortiz with a crushing right hand. Ortiz beat the count, but after the ringside physician examined a cut over his left eye, the fight was stopped, giving Maidana a dramatic TKO victory. 📍 Date: June 27, 2009 📍 Venue: Staples Center 📍 Location: Los Angeles, California, USA 🏆 Title: WBA Interim Light Welterweight Championship (vacant) 🥊 Result: Maidana wins by TKO (Round 6, 2:59) ⏱️ Rounds: 12-Round Title Fight 📊 Records at the time of fight: Victor Ortiz: 24–1–1 (19 KOs) Marcos Maidana: 25–1 (24 KOs) 🔥 An unforgettable slugfest featuring five knockdowns, where Maidana's resilience and relentless power overcame Ortiz in one of boxing's greatest modern wars. -------------------- ╔═╦╗╔╦╗╔═╦═╦╦╦╦╗╔═╗ ║╚╣║║║╚╣╚╣╔╣╔╣║╚╣═╣ ╠╗║╚╝║║╠╗║╚╣║║║║║═╣ ╚═╩══╩═╩═╩═╩╝╚╩═╩═╝ to the channel people 00:00 Intro 2:45 Round 1 5:15 Round 2 7:25 Round 3 9:35 Round 4 -------------------- Follow me insta @charlessalbox facebook @charlessalbox #boxing #usaboxing #boxeocubano #canelo
